My OU course website went live today – I'm starting Bon Depart at the end of the month, which is Beginner's French. I haven't studied French since my first year at Hinde House – which is sixteen years ago!
When I logged on to the site around 11am today, I fully expected to be the only person that had been so eager. I was delighted to find a thread at least sixteen comments long of welcomes and introductions. My last experience of forums wasn't all that positive – I really enjoyed engaging with discussions and following threads, but found I spent a lot of time logging in and hoping that other people had engaged, too. It was, all in all, very disappointing, so I'm really heartened to see people engaging so early on. Makes me think that this distance learning malarkey might actually work!
